Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 – Today, the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) announced a new tool to locate your nearest drug drop box in the state. Our website now contains an interactive map where families can zoom into their town and see the closest place to safely dispose of their unneeded medication.

“We’re working to improve the resources we have to promote safe drug disposal every day,” said Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull, “We know that every little bit counts, and every unneeded medication safely disposed of could be saving a life.”

In 2016, families in Connecticut disposed of over 33,000 pounds of unneeded medication, and the program currently has 84 drop boxes located at local and state police stations.

The new map is available at www.ct.gov/dropbox.

Families can learn how to safely dispose of medication at home by watching DCP’s video about safe drug disposal in English here and in Spanish here.

Consumers with questions, or concerns about the program are encouraged to contact the state’s Drug Control Division by emailing dcp.drugcontrol@ct.gov, or by calling (860) 713-6065.
