OCTOBER 29, 2020 – The Department of Consumer Protection (DCP)’s Division of Liquor Control wants to remind the public that when we turn back the clocks from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. on November 1 (Sunday morning), bars and restaurants do not get an “extra hour.” At that time, no more sales, consumption, or presence of alcoholic beverages is allowed in these bars or restaurants according to state liquor regulations.
In addition, we would like to remind everyone that COVID-19 sector rules implemented by the Department of Economic and Community Development remain in effect. That includes capacity restrictions and prohibitions on large gatherings, a requirement that food must be served with alcohol, and a mandate that masks must be worn when social distancing cannot be maintained. “It might be tempting, with the holiday and Daylight Savings occurring this weekend, to host or attend a party, but we want to remind businesses and consumers of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the protocols and restrictions that remain in place to protect public health and safety,” said Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull. “We also want to remind the public to use alcohol safely and responsibly.”
