National Depression Screening Day
National Depression Screening Day is observed annually as part of Mental Illness Awareness Week during the first week of October. The concept was first introduced by The Screening for Mental Health, Inc. (SMH) in 1991, and encourages people to take part in mental health screenings to reach individuals who are experiencing feelings of stress, fatigue, irritability, sadness or anxiety that are interfering with their daily lives and who do not know where to go for help.
An online depression screening is also available on Mental Health America's National Depression Screening Day webpage.
