Gov. Malloy Announces Collection of Personal Income Taxes in December and January Will Exceed Expectations by More Than $900 Million
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that collections of estimated personal income taxes in December and January will exceed the administration’s projection by more than $900 million. The payments include normal estimated payments, one-time payments based on repatriation of foreign profits in advance of a December 31, 2017 federal deadline, and accelerated payments that would normally have been received later in January or in April 2018 in order to avoid the new federal cap on state and local tax deductions that began on January 1.

Gov. Malloy Signs Order Establishing the Whiting Forensic Hospital to Focus More Directly on Increased Quality of Care
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed an executive order that separates the Whiting Forensic Division from Connecticut Valley Hospital and creates a distinct hospital, Whiting Forensic Hospital, under a new structure that will allow the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) to focus more directly on the changes needed to continue to improve the quality of care at the facility.
