Tonight at 6:30 p.m., Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join Naugatuck Mayor Robert A. Mezzo for a tour of the flood damage caused by this afternoon's strong thunderstorm in Naugatuck. Mayor Mezzo has declared a state of emergency in the town.

On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join federal, state and local officials for the grand opening ceremony of Gateway Community College’s new campus in downtown New Haven.

Gov. Malloy: Advance Auto Parts Building Distribution Center in Enfield
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state will provide a $5 million loan to support Advance Auto Parts and its plan to establish a distribution facility in Enfield at the former Lego building, a project that will create between 100 and 200 jobs. The State Bond Commission is expected to approve the funding at its next meeting.

At Invitation from the World Economic Forum, Governor Malloy to Participate in China Summit
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced today at a meeting with a delegation of officials from Guangdong Province that he has accepted an invitation to participate in the World Economic Forum Summit in Tianjin, China. The Governor will be joined by Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith, and will also include a stop in Connecticut's sister province, Shandong, to explore other economic opportunities.

Gov. Malloy: Bridgewater Associates to Join "Next Five," Will Create Between 750 and 1,000 Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Bridgewater Associates, one of the world's leading hedge funds, intends to build a state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Stamford. The $750 million project will be built along the waterfront in the Harbor Point development. To fully maximize the benefits under the agreement Bridgewater will create up to 1,000 high-level jobs within 10 years and also retain its current workforce of 1,225 employees.

Gov. Malloy: Expanding Family Resource Centers Will Deliver Key Services for Connecticut's Children
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, together with Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Commissioner of Education Stefan Pryor, today announced that ten new sites for school-based Family Resource Centers have been selected to provide an array of additional wraparound services for children and their families. Expansion of Connecticut's family resource center network was a key part of education reform legislation signed by the Governor earlier this year.

Gov. Malloy: State Emergency Operations Center Returns to Monitoring Status
The state's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) returned to monitoring status at 5:00 p.m. today as initial tests did not indicate any detectable levels of hazardous material entering the state as a result of an industrial fire in Ghent, New York.

Gov. Malloy: Thomson Reuters Establishes Connecticut's First Captive Insurance Company
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that international media and information company Thomson Reuters has relocated its U.S. insurance subsidiary from Delaware to Connecticut. The subsidiary, Thomson Reuters Risk Management Inc. (TRRMI), is the state's first captive insurance company, taking advantage of key changes in the Governor's sweeping jobs reform legislation of 2011.

Gov. Malloy, Shoreline Delegation Announce State Bonding for Shore Line Trolley Museum
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Democratic state legislators from the East Haven area announced today that the State Bond Commission is expected to approve a $1 million state grant for the non-profit Shore Line Trolley Museum on River Street in East Haven to construct new trolley storage buildings above the flood plain.
