• 12/12/2018 Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Remain at Half-Staff Friday for the Anniversary of the Tragedy in Sandy Hook

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and State of Connecticut flags to remain flying at half-staff on Friday, December 14, 2018, in remembrance of the 20 children and 6 adults who were killed six years ago in the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Flags are also currently flying at half-staff for a 30-day period in honor of President George H.W. Bush, who passed away on November 30. They should remain lowered throughout the duration of this period.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Robert Klee today announced that, under a recently adopted statute requiring the state to conduct an appraisal of nuclear power-generating facilities and solicit bids for zero-carbon electricity-generating resources, the state has selected two nuclear power bids, along with nine solar project bids – two of which are paired with energy storage – and one offshore wind project.

• 3/24/2016 Gov. Malloy Announces Awards to Support Affordable Housing Development Across the State

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein today announced that nearly $28 million is being awarded to support the development of affordable housing across Connecticut as part of the latest round of funding under the state's Competitive Housing Assistance for Multifamily Properties (CHAMP) program.  These awards will play a role in helping to create, rehabilitate, or preserve approximately 200 units of affordable housing and focus on expanding access to transit-oriented development, creating new veteran's housing units, and adding supportive housing for those who are living with disabilities.

• 12/13/2018 Gov. Malloy: Independent Analysis Shows Recent Adjustments Are Providing a More Stabilized Path for State Employee Pension System

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a pension stress test recently conducted by The Pew Charitable Trust on behalf of the State of Connecticut shows that recent changes made during the Malloy administration to the State Employees Retirement System (SERS) have helped insulate the system from risk even in poor economic conditions. The Governor said that the changes made to SERS can be used to provide a path to help stabilize the Teachers Retirement System (TRS), which was found by the analysis to be in need of action to aid solvency risks and prevent the forthcoming spikes in the state’s share from overcrowding the state’s budget.

• 11/30/2018 Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of President George H.W. Bush

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff beginning immediately in remembrance of President George H.W. Bush, who passed away on Friday evening. Pursuant to U.S. Code (4 U.S.C. 7m), the flag shall be flown at half-staff for a period of 30 days following the death of a president or former president. Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time.

Malloy today announced that every passenger rail line in Connecticut will have positive train control (PTC) installed on their systems by December 31, 2018, fulfilling a recently enacted requirement by the Federal Railroad Administration for every passenger rail line in the country to implement the safety measure by the end of the year.

Malloy and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Michael Bzdyra announced that effective today, a new DMV Express Center has opened in Southington, providing customers with a convenient location to renew driver’s licenses and identification cards. Located at 755 Queen Street, the office is operated through a partnership with AAA Allied Group.
