Data Release: Daily Statistics of Pretrial Inmates Accused of Misdemeanors, 5/26/16
Today, the Office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy released May 26, 2016 numbers for those accused of misdemeanor crimes who are currently in jail awaiting trial. Often, many of those pre-trial detainees are in prison because they cannot come up with even a few hundred dollars in bail.

Gov. Malloy Introduces Vice President Biden at White House Convening on Gun Violence Prevention
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy this afternoon introduced Vice President Joe Biden at a White House convening on gun violence prevention, which was attended by state and local leaders from throughout the country. Earlier in the day, the Governor was a panelist during a discussion on state and local actions to prevent gun violence and domestic violence. Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman Statements on Federal Guidance Regarding the Rights of Transgender Youths in Schools
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today released the following statements regarding joint guidance that was released today from the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice to help provide educators with the information they need to ensure that all students, including transgender students, can attend school in an environment free from discrimination based on sex.

Gov. Malloy Signs Executive Order No. 54
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today signed Executive Order No. 54 to complement Public Act 16-64, a bill he signed this afternoon. The Executive Order clarifies a phrase in the bill, specifically that a "reasonable fee" for any "recording for which the recording fee is not otherwise prescribed by law" shall be construed to mean no more than twenty dollars and that the officers shall receive reimbursement for mileage traveled.

Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Hail Final Legislative Passage of Bill Combating Opioid Addiction
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are hailing a vote in the State Senate this evening to approve legislation the Governor proposed - in collaboration with several members of the General Assembly - that will expand the state's effort to combat the opioid epidemic. The bill received approval last week in the House of Representatives, and it will next be transmitted to the Governor, who will sign it into law in the coming days.
