Gov. Malloy: SAT Exam to be Used in Place of the 11th Grade Test for the First Time Wednesday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and State Education Department Commissioner Dianna Wentzell said today that starting on Wednesday, the State of Connecticut will begin using the SAT in lieu of an 11th grade Smarter Balanced - or SBAC - exam.

Gov. Malloy: Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of the Victims of the Tragedy in Brussels, Belgium
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that - in accordance with a proclamation from President Barack Obama directing flags to be lowered to honor the victims of the attacks in Brussels, Belgium - U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will fly at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on Saturday, March 26, 2016.

Gov. Malloy Applauds Bipartisan, Unanimous Committee Approval of Firearms Legislation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today applauded the unanimous, bipartisan approval in the General Assembly's Public Safety and Security Committee of legislation he introduced that strengthens the blood alcohol limits for carrying a firearm as well as for hunting while under the influence.

Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman Hail Committee Approval of Second Chance 2.0 and Temporary Restraining Order Legislation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are applauding the approval today in the General Assembly's Judiciary Committee of two pieces of legislation the Governor introduced. The Second Chance 2.0 bill is designed to continue reducing the state's crime rate while working to ensure that nonviolent offenders are successfully reintegrated into society. The Governor's temporary restraining order bill, which protects protect victims of domestic violence by prohibiting the possession of firearms for anyone who becomes subject to a temporary restraining order, was also approved out of committee.

Supporters of Governor Dannel P. Malloy's legislative proposal to establish the Connecticut Transit Corridor Development Assistance Authority (TCDAA) are testifying at a public hearing of the General Assembly's Planning and Development Committee today, telling lawmakers that the creation of this group will serve to better encourage transit-oriented development statewide.

Gov. Malloy Announces $17.5 Million in Funds for Upgrades to Improve Service on the Danbury Branch Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that an allocation of $17.5 million in state funding for the design, engineering, and construction of a new rail yard on the Metro-North Railroad Danbury Branch Line in Norwalk was approved at today's meeting of the State Bond Commission. The funding comes under the Governor's "Let's Go CT!" initiative, which is making unprecedented investments to upgrade and modernize the state's transportation system.

Gov. Malloy Activates State Severe Cold Weather Protocol Through Tuesday Morning
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced he has activated the state's Severe Cold Weather Protocol in anticipation of temperatures in the teens and single digits and wind chills below zero overnight. The protocol is effective beginning the afternoon of Monday, January 4, 2016 and will remain in effect through the morning of Tuesday, January 5.

Gov. Malloy: State Makes Significant Progress in Expanding Access to Quality, Affordable Housing
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein to highlight the strides Connecticut made in 2015 to expand access to quality, affordable housing and reduce homelessness. Last year marked an extraordinary year for housing creation in Connecticut, with the state helping to create, rehabilitate, and preserve 11,881 total housing units statewide. Since the beginning of the Malloy administration in 2011, the state has provided funding to build 17,897 housing units across Connecticut.
