Gov. Malloy Announces Members to Serve on Certificate of Need Taskforce
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that seventeen people have been appointed to serve on a taskforce he created in February that will be responsible for comprehensively reviewing Connecticut's laws regulating the ability of hospitals, nursing homes, residential care homes, certain physician groups, and other health care entities to establish new facilities or provide new services, change ownership, purchase or acquire equipment, make capital improvements, and terminate services.

Gov. Malloy Announces Opening of DUI Reintegration Center to Provide Unique Support Services for Inmates Re-Entering Society
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that as part of his Second Chance Society initiatives to reduce recidivism and lower crime, the Connecticut Department of Correction has opened a DUI Reintegration Center at the Willard-Cybulski Correctional Institution in Enfield to specifically provide unique support services for inmates convicted of driving under the influence who are preparing to re-enter society.

Gov. Malloy Signs Order Strengthening State Building Code to Limit Storm Damage as a Result of Climate Change
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that - with Connecticut facing more frequent and severe weather events as a result of global warming - he is directing state agencies to develop new building code standards that will better protect residential and commercial structures from damage caused by flooding and high winds.

Gov. Malloy Releases Updated Budget Proposal that Cuts Spending and Includes No Tax Increases
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released a revised, balanced budget proposal that addresses the entirety of the nonpartisan Office of Fiscal Analysis's deficit projection by closing a projected $922 million deficit for FY2017. Falling under the statutory spending cap, this is the only budget presented thus far that tackles the full scope of the challenge. It includes no tax increases.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Receives $2.5 Million Grant for Second Chance Society Initiatives
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has selected the State of Connecticut to receive a grant of $2.5 million to aid in creating a fairer, more effective justice system. The grant is a part of the Safety and Justice Challenge, a national initiative supported by the foundation to reduce over-incarceration, change the way states think about jails, and induce reforms.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Awarded Over $2.5 Million in Federal Funds to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment in Health Centers
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today applauded an announcement made by Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell that over $2.5 million in federal funding has been awarded to seven health centers in Connecticut to improve and expand the delivery of substance abuse services in health centers, with a specific focus on treatment of opioid use disorders in underserved populations.

Gov. Malloy Announces New Round of Funding to Help Remediate and Revitalize Connecticut Brownfields
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is now accepting applications for its ninth round of competitive grant funding that will be awarded to help remediate and redevelop brownfield sites throughout the state. A total of $6.5 million will be earmarked for remediation projects and $1 million will be reserved for assessment projects.
