Gov. Malloy Testifies in Support of Banning Bump Stocks and Other Rate of Fire Enhancements
Governor Dannel P. Malloy has submitted written testimony in support of a legislative proposal being considered in the Connecticut General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee that will ban enhancements that increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic weapon, including items such as bump stocks, trigger cranks, binary trigger systems, and other modifications. The committee held a public hearing on the proposal today at the Legislative Office Building.

Gov. Malloy Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Connecticut State Police Trooper First Class Kevin Miller
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff beginning immediately in honor of Connecticut State Police Trooper First Class Kevin M. Miller, who was killed this afternoon in a motor vehicle accident while on duty. Trooper First Class Miller served with the Connecticut State Police for 19 years and was assigned to Troop C in Tolland.

Gov. Malloy Announces Partial Activation of State Emergency Operations Center at 4am Tuesday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he will partially activate the state’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) beginning at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 to monitor storm conditions across the state and prepare for winter weather that is forecast to have an impact on morning and potentially afternoon travel. Forecasts are showing a range of accumulation across the state, with the heaviest amounts occurring in central and eastern Connecticut.

Gov. Malloy Nominates Justice Robinson as Chief Justice and Judge Ecker as Associate Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is nominating Associate Justice Richard Allan Robinson of Stamford to serve as Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court. In addition, the Governor announced that he is nominating Superior Court Judge Steven D. Ecker of New Haven to become an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.

Gov. Malloy Announces Tractor Trailer Ban on I-84 Will Be Lifted at 11pm Tonight
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that the travel ban for tractor trailers and tandem trailers on I-84 will be lifted at 11:00 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, March 7, 2018). This is being done in coordination with New York State, which is also lifting the ban in their state at that same time.

Gov. Malloy: Leading Furniture Retailer to Expand its Headquarters Significantly in Connecticut and Create 125 New Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the headquarters of Bob's Discount Furniture, a national furniture store chain, will expand in Manchester with a new project that will significantly increase the company's space, retain 326 people, and create 125 new jobs in the next five years.

Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation on Pay Discrimination
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has a signed into law legislation that will strengthen Connecticut’s ongoing efforts to secure equal pay for equal work for women in the workplace and help prevent unintended wage discrimination. Proposed by the Governor in his State of the State address earlier this year, the new law prohibits employers from asking about a prospective employee’s wage and salary history during the job interview process.

Gov. Malloy: PricewaterhouseCoopers Plans Significant Connecticut Expansion That Will Create 400 New Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), the U.S. firm in one of the largest professional services networks in the world, is planning a major expansion project in Connecticut that will see the creation of up to 400 new jobs in the state over the next five years. The company plans to spend $20 million on the expansion, which includes establishing Stamford as the headquarters for its Insourced Solutions for Tax (IST) division.

Gov. Malloy Applauds Final Passage of Legislation on Fair Treatment of Incarcerated Women
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is commending the Connecticut House of Representatives for the bipartisan, 148-0 vote this afternoon to adopt legislation he introduced that will strengthen Connecticut’s efforts to bring fairness and dignity to incarcerated women, and thereby reduce recidivism. The legislation, which was adopted in the Senate on Tuesday, next moves to the Governor’s desk for his signature.
