  • 7/21/2015 Gov. Malloy: Synchrony Financial to Add Up to 400 New Jobs in Connecticut

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and executives from Synchrony Financial - a premier consumer financial services company headquartered in Stamford - today announced that the company is expanding its Connecticut operations with the creation of 200 to 400 new, full-time jobs in the state while retaining 310 jobs.

  • 7/7/2015 Gov. Malloy Announces Award Recipients for Competitive Affordable Homeownership Funding Round

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein today announced that 17 applications have been selected for funding under the department's Affordable Homeownership round.  The $30 million in funding will create homeownership opportunities for eligible individuals and families across the state.

  • 7/9/2015 Gov. Malloy Signs ‘Second Chance Society’ Bill to Further Reduce Crime and Successfully Re-Integrate Nonviolent Offenders into Society

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined lawmakers, state officials and advocates for a bill signing ceremony to commemorate the final passage into law of the "Second Chance Society" legislation the Governor introduced earlier this year.  The package of initiatives is designed to continue the progress being made in reducing the state's dropping crime rate, which is at a 48-year low, as well as ensuring nonviolent offenders are successfully reintegrated into society and become productive workers in Connecticut's economy.

  • 7/15/2015 Gov. Malloy Announces $7 Million in Grants for Brownfield Redevelopment in 12 Communities Throughout the State

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) will award $7 million to 12 brownfield redevelopment and assessment projects across the state, including $5.4 million to four remediation and redevelopment projects and $1.5 million to eight projects for assessment and investigation.  Together, the projects will help clean up and assess a total of 462 acres of commercial, industrial and municipal properties.

  • 7/22/2015 Gov. Malloy Signs Law Improving Processing of Evidence in Sexual Assault Cases

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today joined sexual assault victim advocates and state officials to commemorate the passage into law of legislation that improves evidence collection and analysis in sexual assault cases by enhancing statewide protocols.  The new law establishes deadlines for transferring and testing sexual assault evidence to the Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory - the state's crime lab - in order to provide a better framework for handling these cases.

  • 7/23/2015 Gov. Malloy Unveils New Apprenticeship Program to Grow Jobs, Strengthen Workforce Skills and Boost State’s Manufacturing Industry

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state is launching a new workforce development initiative through the Manufacturing Innovation Fund that supports a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction for apprentices in the manufacturing industry.  The Manufacturing Innovation Fund Apprenticeship Program will provide wage subsidies and tuition reimbursements to eligible companies in order to increase the number of apprentices in Connecticut and ensure a talented, skilled workforce for the future.

  • 7/28/2015 Gov. Malloy: Funding for Transformative Transportation Plan Now Underway

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that the State Bond Commission today voted to fund the first batch of projects under his "Let's Go CT!" initiative, which will transform Connecticut's transportation infrastructure, modernize the system statewide to make it best-in-class, and attract businesses and grow jobs.  Earlier this year, Governor Malloy unveiled the historic plan, funding for which was approved under the adopted state budget.  The Governor explained that for two generations, the state fell short on necessary transportation investments and failed to implement a long-term strategic plan.

  • 7/30/2015 Gov. Malloy Announces $12 Million in Small Cities Grants to 22 Municipalities to Enhance Local Communities, Increase Economic Development

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein today announced that 22 municipalities in Connecticut have been approved to receive nearly $12 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities Program awards from the state that will provide important upgrades and improvements to their local communities.Under the program, eligible applicants include smaller towns that have a population of not more than 50,000 residents.  The grants are awarded to the municipalities to facilitate projects that will enhance their communities in a variety of ways, including developing or preserving affordable housing, providing services to the most vulnerable residents in our communities, and creating and retaining jobs.

  • 7/8/2015 Gov. Malloy: Connecticut’s Aerospace and Shipbuilding Industry Receives Federal Designation to Accelerate Resurgence of Manufacturing Opportunities

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State of Connecticut has successfully been designated by the Obama Administration under the Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership (IMCP) initiative.  With this designation, Connecticut will receive coordinated support from eleven federal agencies with access to more than $1 billion in federal funding dedicated to economic development and the resurgence of manufacturing in the United States.

  • 11/30/2015 Gov. Malloy: 2015 Marks Fourth Straight Year of Increases in Funding and Mileage for State Road Resurfacing Program

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has resurfaced 330 two-lane miles of roadways this construction season - about 25 miles more than 2014, and nearly 90 more miles than the prior year.  The additional mileage was the result of an additional $5.7 million state investment into the CTDOT road program and marks the fourth consecutive year of increases in road resurfacing.
