Joint Statement About the Hartford Rail Line
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, United States Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, Amtrak, and the members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation met this morning in Washington, D.C. to discuss the future of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield rail line, known as the Hartford Line. Gov. Malloy: State Secures Entry into New Federal Program for Manufacturers to Advance New Flexible Hybrid Electronics
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), the University of Connecticut (UConn), and the United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) will take part in a new Flexible Hybrid Electronics Manufacturing Innovation Institute (FHE MII), a virtual institute consisting of more than 160 companies, universities, and non-profits. As part of the institute, manufacturers in the state can gain support to build up their capabilities in new flexible, hybrid electronic technologies.

Gov. Malloy: New Data Shows Connecticut Saw Fourth Largest Violent Crime Drop in the Nation
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined state public safety officials at the headquarters of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) in Middletown to announce new 2014 crime numbers, which reflected the fourth largest drop in violent crime nationwide over the year prior. The FBI's annual crime report shows that overall crime in Connecticut continued to drop in 2014, including a 9.7 percent decrease in violent crime.

Gov. Malloy and Delegation Announce Federal Grant to Help Once-Incarcerated Veterans Receive a ‘Second Chance,’ Gain Employment, and Avoid Homelessness
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service has awarded The WorkPlace with a $130,000 grant to provide services that will assist formerly incarcerated veterans considered "at risk" of becoming homeless in finding meaningful employment. The Incarcerated Veterans Transition Program grant focuses on providing job referral and counseling services, and will be used to supplement the Governor's Second Chance Society goals of ensuring that nonviolent offenders are successfully reintegrated into society and become productive members of Connecticut's economy.

Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation to Help Ease College Debt, Implement a Student Loan Bill of Rights
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined groups of advocates and state officials at a bill signing ceremony to commemorate two new pieces of legislation that aim to tackle rising student loan debt and college affordability. The first - Public Act 15-200 - was introduced by Governor Malloy, allowing students to refinance their loans at substantially lower rates and delivering lower monthly payments. The second - Public Act 15-162 - gives the Connecticut Department of Banking more regulatory oversight over student loans to help ensure fairness in the process.

Gov. Malloy Designates Year-Long Celebration to Commemorate 100 Years of Connecticut’s Submarine Heritage
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is designating October 2015 through October 2016 as Connecticut's Submarine Century - a year-long observance that celebrates 100 years of submarine activity in Connecticut, including the Town of Groton's distinction as the "Submarine Capital of the World." The commemoration coincides with the centennial anniversary of the Naval Submarine Base New London and the Naval Submarine School.

Gov. Malloy Announces Available Support to Towns and Cities for Brownfield Redevelopment
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is accepting applications for $7.5 million in grants that will be awarded to help clean up former industrial sites in communities throughout the state, revitalizing these properties to put them back into productive use. Made available through the Connecticut Brownfield Remediation program, a total of $6.5 million will be earmarked for remediation projects and $1 million will be used for assessment projects.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are inviting members of the public to attend the State of Connecticut's 14th annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, honoring and celebrating the lives of those killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.

Gov. Malloy Announces $6 Million Federal Grant to Create Training Programs for Manufacturing and Aerospace Industries
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded the state with a $6 million grant to develop the Eastern Connecticut Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative - a program that will initially create a pipeline for customized training programs in manufacturing in the eastern portion of the state, and provide similar assistance to the aerospace industry throughout Connecticut.

Gov. Malloy Urges U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to Adopt Draft Dredging Plan, Continue Operation of Open Water Sites
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is urging the United States Army Corps of Engineers to promptly adopt a draft dredging plan and environmental impact statement for Long Island Sound, arguing that without the continued availability of the four currently operated water disposal sites in Long Island Sound, Connecticut's maritime industry will suffer irreparable damage.

Gov. Malloy Announces Financial Services Company MC Credit Partners Relocating to Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that MC Credit Partners, LP, an institutional manager of middle market direct lending funds, is relocating from New York City to Stamford, moving 16 employees to Connecticut with plans to create five new positions over the next two years.
