Malloy today announced that the Hartford Business Improvement District, the City of Hartford and the State of Connecticut will host a victory parade and rally in downtown Hartford on Sunday, April 12, 2015 to congratulate the UConn Women's Basketball team for winning the 2015 NCAA Basketball National Championship.

Gov. Malloy: Nonprescription Medications are Sales Tax Free in the State Beginning Today
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that as the result of a new state law he introduced and signed last year, nonprescription drugs and medications are exempt from sales taxes in Connecticut beginning today.

On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit a section of the viaduct on Interstate 84 in Hartford to discuss the state's transportation infrastructure. The Hartford Viaduct is the elevated section of I-84 with structures that were originally designed in the 1960s for a 50-year service life.

Gov. Malloy Announces Donation of Land to Create New State Park Scenic Reserve in Bloomfield
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has acquired approximately 40-acres of land in Bloomfield that will be preserved for public open space as the Auerfarm State Park Scenic Reserve.

Gov. Malloy Completes Extensive Review of State's Executive Orders, Eliminates Those Identified as Outdated and Obsolete
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that his office has completed an exhaustive review of all executive orders that have been signed by previous Connecticut governors and he has signed a new order directing all outdated, unnecessary, or obsolete orders be repealed, and those benefiting the State of Connecticut to remain in effect.

Gov. Malloy: Tourism Industry Contributes $14 Billion to Connecticut's Economy, Adding 5,000 Jobs in Recent Years
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the results of an economic impact study of the tourism industry in Connecticut, showing that the sector of the state's economy generated $14 billion in total sales in 2013 - a three-percent increase from the prior year. The study also shows that tourism supports more than 118,000 jobs statewide - including 80,000 direct jobs - representing 5.3 percent of all employment in the state. Approximately 5,000 new jobs have been created in the industry since the end of the recession.
