  • 4/20/2015 Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Receives $700k to Combat Veteran Homelessness

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded Connecticut nearly $700,000 in federal funding to support Connecticut's efforts to help end veteran homelessness. 

  • 4/28/2015 Gov. Malloy: Replacement of Norwalk Rail Bridge on Schedule

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today announced that the design for a new Walk Railroad Bridge in Norwalk is progressing and remains on schedule.  Prior to Governor Malloy's administration, the bridge, which was first built in 1896, had gone decades without any plans for replacement despite its declining reliability.  Now, as bridge designers have been developing plans for the replacement bridge and preparing the necessary permits, interim repairs to help ensure its functionality have been completed.  Construction on an entirely new bridge is expected to begin in 2016 and be completed in 2020.

  • 4/28/2015 Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Highlights "Second Chance Society" Initiative in Willimantic

    On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit the Windham Recovery Community Center in Willimantic to tour the facility, speak with staff and individuals coping with addiction, and discuss the impact that his "Second Chance Society" initiatives will have on residents' lives.  His proposals and criminal justice reforms - supported by Democrats and Republicans in red and blue states nationwide - are designed to drive down the state's historically low crime rates even further.

  • 4/15/2015 Gov. Malloy: Flags to be Lowered Wednesday in Honor of the National Day of Remembrance for President Lincoln

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that in accordance to a proclamation from President Barack Obama, U.S. and state flags should fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, in recognition of the national "Day of Remembrance for President Abraham Lincoln."

  • 4/4/2015 Gov. Malloy Lifts Ban on State-Funded Travel to Indiana

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that, following the passage of an amended religious freedom recognition act, he would lift the ban on state-funded travel between Connecticut and Indiana. The adjusted legislation now provides protections to LGBTQ individuals, and as such, falls outside the scope of the Executive Order issued earlier this week.

  • 4/17/2015 Gov. Malloy Selects Dr. Dianna Wentzell as Commissioner of the Department of Education

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is selecting Dr. Dianna R. Wentzell to serve as Commissioner of the State Department of Education.  Dr. Wentzell, a former teacher with over 25 years of experience as an educator in Connecticut, has been serving as the department's Interim Commissioner since January.

    On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in a roundtable discussion on job growth, where he will hear from individuals who recently secured employment by utilizing resources and services from the Connecticut Department of Labor and its partnered organizations and businesses.

  • 4/20/2015 Tuesday: Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman Attend Dedication of Reintegration Center

    On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will participate in the dedication ceremony of the Cybulski Community Reintegration Center in Enfield.  The correctional facility is being re-commissioned - as part of the Governor's Second Chance Society initiatives - to become a Reintegration Center that prepares inmates for successful community re-entry.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that his request for a major disaster declaration with snow assistance for federal aid in connection with the January blizzard has been approved by President Barack Obama.

  • 10/26/2015 Gov. Malloy Announces Funds to Create New Affordable Housing in Six Towns across Connecticut

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein, and Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) Executive Director Karl Kilduff today announced state investments of over $20 million to create six affordable housing developments across the state.  The housing grants, which come from the most recent Competitive Housing Assistance for Multifamily Properties (CHAMP) funding round, will assist in creating and rehabilitating 230 affordable units and 52 market-rate units.
