Gov. Malloy Reminds Residents of Resources Available to Help the Most Vulnerable Beat the Heat
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is urging Connecticut residents, particularly those who are most vulnerable, to take precautions during periods of excessive heat and humidity during the summer season, including this upcoming weekend as a heat wave is forecast to move into the state on Friday, June 29, and last several days. Those who are looking for a place to get out of the heat can locate a cooling center, which are available in towns and cities across the state, by calling 2-1-1.

Gov. Malloy: Hartford Line Ridership Tops 10,000 in First Full Week of Regular Operations
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced today that ridership on the new CTrail Hartford Line passenger rail service exceeded 10,719 customers during its first full week of regular operations from Monday, June 18 through Sunday, June 24, during which full-fare tickets were required. The service launched on Saturday, June 16, and was free for all riders on the first two days of operation.

Gov. Malloy Announces Companies to Create Nearly 4,000 Jobs and Retain Over 15,000 Jobs Statewide
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced following today’s state Bond Commission meeting that 16 companies have been approved for $80.7 million in assistance to relocate, expand, and create new jobs throughout the state. In total, the companies are expected to retain 15,003 jobs and create 3,876 jobs.

Gov. Malloy Calls for Legislation to Ensure Women Receive Accurate Information on Medical Options in Response to Pregnancy Center Ruling
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is urging the Connecticut General Assembly to adopt legislation during the upcoming legislative session in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in NIFLA v. Becerra to ensure that women who seek counseling for pregnancy options receive complete and accurate information about available services. The court in yesterday’s 5-4 ruling struck down a California law regarding “crisis pregnancy centers,” which are often unlicensed facilities that purport to offer pregnancy services but refuse to inform clients about safe, legal, readily-available, and low-cost family planning options, including abortion services.

Gov. Malloy and Dept. of Transportation Mark Opening of the West River Bridge on I-95 Between New Haven and West Haven
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker today held a ceremony near the West River Bridge on I-95 to mark the opening of the newly replaced bridge, which carries I-95 over West River between New Haven and West Haven. The northbound lanes opened to traffic earlier this week, while the southbound side opened to traffic on May 23.

Gov. Malloy Announces Grants for Six Communities That Will Help Put Blighted Properties Back Into Productive Use
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that six municipalities and organizations in Connecticut, including Ansonia, Naugatuck, New Milford, Thompson, the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments, and the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation, are being awarded a total of $1 million in state grants that will help the entities in their efforts to remediate and redevelop clusters of blighted properties – also known as “brownfields” – and put them back into productive use.

Gov. Malloy Announces Opening of DMV Express Center in Milford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that beginning this Thursday, June 7, 2018, a new, state-of-the-art DMV Express Center will open at the Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union at 977 Boston Post Road in Milford. The location will offer customers the ability to renew driver’s licenses and ID cards while utilizing services designed to help streamline the transactions, including the ability to offer appointments, provide service tickets stamped with same-day times, offer self-service information kiosks, and provide text and email messages for customer convenience.

Gov. Malloy Signs Order Implementing the State Water Plan
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today signed an executive order directing the state’s Water Planning Council (WPC) to immediately implement the State Water Plan that was submitted to the Connecticut General Assembly in January 2018. The plan, which was ordered by the General Assembly through Public Act 14-163, was developed by the WPC to balance the needs of public water supply, economic development, recreation, and ecological health. It was completed through an exhaustive and transparent process that included an extended period of public comment from all stakeholders. The plan required legislative review and approval, but the legislative session ended without action from the General Assembly.

Gov. Malloy: State Receives Partial Federal Approval of Hospital Proposal
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved part of Connecticut’s hospital plan. Specifically, CMS approved the administration’s request for a waiver of the federal broad-based requirements related to the hospital user fees, which represents one portion of the overall hospital legislation adopted late last year that made revisions to the biennial budget (Public Act 17-4, June Special Session).

Gov. Malloy Announces Launch of the Hartford Line, Providing Frequent Rail Service in the Central Connecticut Corridor
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined dozens of federal, state, and local officials, and Connecticut commuters to officially launch the CTrail Hartford Line for service. The passenger rail line, which has multiple stations in Central Connecticut along the I-91 corridor connecting New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield, is the first passenger rail line to open for service in Connecticut since 1990.
