Gov. Malloy Announces Nicholas Donofrio to Step Down from Board of Regents, Selects Matt Fleury as New Chairman
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Board of Regents for Higher Education Chairman Nicholas M. Donofrio will be stepping down from his position effective Friday, July 1, as his four-year term comes to an end. The Governor has selected Matt Fleury of Hartford, who currently serves as a member on the board, to serve as its next chairman.

Gov. Malloy Announces $200,000 Federal Grant to Expand State's Apprenticeship Training Program
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation today announced that the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) is receiving a $200,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) to increase and expand participation in the state's apprenticeship training program.

Gov. Malloy Announces State Grants to Encourage Transit-Oriented Development and Responsible Growth Across Connecticut

Malloy today announced that twenty projects in towns and cities across Connecticut will receive nearly $11 million in funding under a competitive grant program that will support transit-oriented development and responsible growth, targeted at boosting economic activity and creating jobs.

Gov. Malloy Announces $13 Million in Small Cities Grants to 21 Municipalities to Enhance Housing Availability, Increase Economic Development
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein today announced that nearly $13 million is being awarded to 21 municipalities in Connecticut to provide important upgrades and improvements to the state's affordable housing stock and infrastructure.

Data Release: Daily Statistics of Pretrial Inmates Accused of Misdemeanors, 6/1/16
Today, the Office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy released June 1, 2016 numbers for those accused of misdemeanor crimes who are currently in jail awaiting trial. Often, many of those pre-trial detainees are in prison because they cannot come up with even a few hundred dollars in bail.

Gov. Malloy: Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of the Victims of the Tragedy in Orlando

Malloy today announced that - in accordance with a proclamation from President Barack Obama directing flags to be lowered to honor the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida - U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will fly at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on June 16, 2016.

Gov. Malloy Announces $4.3 Million in State Grants to Help Municipalities Cut Costs Through Regionalization of Services

Gov. Malloy Announces Modernized Symbol and Language to be Phased in on New Reserved Parking Signs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today, joined by disability rights advocates, held a bill signing ceremony to commemorate the passage of a new state law that modernizes the signage used to designate reserved parking spaces for persons with disabilities. The new signage contains a new, modernized symbol as well as more inclusive language that is more active, engaging, and reflective of the diverse community of those who utilize the spaces. Endorsed by advocates internationally and already in use in certain locations throughout the world, the proposal was inspired by a group of Connecticut residents who approached the Governor with the idea.

Gov. Malloy Signs Legislation Protecting Survivors of Domestic Violence, Closing Critical Public Safety Loophole
Governor Dannel P. Malloy has signed into law a legislative proposal he introduced earlier this year that is designed to protect the victims of domestic violence by prohibiting the possession of firearms for anyone who becomes subject to a temporary restraining order.
